I was inevitable that I would get sick. We've been bouncing around from place to place for two weeks now with barely any time to catch up on sleep or even just process what's been happening. I woke up yesterday with a head cold and had to stay back from our first day of mangrove fieldwork today :(
As I said in the last blog, we've been in Boca del Drago for four days now and it truly is paradise. Even though there's only one good restaurant in the area (we've eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner there haha), the beach is incredible. The water is warm and fairly calm and the beaches aren't crowded at all. Most tourists bus out here from Bocas Town (40 min ride) and only stay for a few hours.

it jumped on me and we were friends
The first night we got here, it was a girl in our group's birthday so we all played cards on the beach and sang Happy Birthday! This past weekend were our first free days in a while so we all spent lots of time in the water and then most of us booked a hostel for Saturday night in Bocas Town.

There wasn't much to do in the town besides look at the overpriced surf shops. We ate at a cool restaurant directly on the water, actually on top of the water. If you looked down, the ocean was directly under the wooden floors. That night we went out to the most recommended places, but only two of the clubs were decently crowded. At one of the places, I think we (19 of us went) were the only ones dancing so the dj started playing American music for us haha. When he played Apple Bottom Jeans, we were the only ones that got lower, lower, lower and the dj was cracking up. To end the night, we went to a place called Selina's and they played a solid 30 minutes of 80s American songs! Overall it was really fun, but I was feeling a little icky Saturday morning and then I think the lack of sleep that night pushed me over the edge and now I'm sick...

We're here for three more days and then we're taking two days to get back to the city. It sucks being sick, but I'm resting up today so I can do fieldwork tomorrow and Wednesday. Also, I keep reminding myself that I can just look outside and the view isn't too bad haha
